(wasn't sure what section to put this in)

Does anyone have experience shipping to/from Italy, specifically how long does it take to get tracking? After seeing good reviews and unique designs I ordered an Atwood-style tool from Dalla Costa Fabio, located in Italy. It has been a little over 4 weeks and I haven't received the item yet. After two weeks I asked him for tracking, he said he would request it. On week 3 he apologized for the delay saying it was a holiday in Italy (I googled it and it checked out, some nationwide Catholic thing), and this past week 4 he didn't respond.

I have limited experience ordering internationally, does it typically take this long to deliver, or to provide tracking? I ordered something from Cuscadi before and it arrived in less than two weeks, with tracking provided on the day it shipped.

International has always been hit and miss for me both as the shipper and as the customer. I've sent stuff to Australia and it made it in a week. I've also ordered stuff from Canada and it took a month. I don't know how the postal service in Italy operates but if it's like here in the US he should've already had tracking info. I've never heard of someone having to request that info.

It depends on how the item ships. if I get something from the USA or overseas I normally say send via mail.

So then I can track the item with a tracking number through the shipping countries postal system or through the Canada Post website with that same tracking number.

Other places will only ship UPS or FedEx etc. so those sites are universal once you have the number to check.

I would say a month from Italy is right on the bubble of starting to worry but that also hinges on the carrier. With no tracking number and no comms from the seller I wouldn't be too happy unless I had a long standing relationship with them.

Well he's got limited, but universally positive reviews, so I took a chance. At this point I'm hoping he's just irritated that I kept asking about it and not actually a flake. If another month goes by with no word I'll contact PayPal, since they said I have 180 days to dispute.

It's easy to put off email that's in your second language and that's compounded by the fact that he probably doesn't have any more information than you do. A couple of years ago I ordered a fork for an older Colnago bike from Italy, it took about three weeks to go from Italy to Germany.

Well he said he would "request to tracking" two weeks ago, so I would hope he has more info than me.

Well here's the final update: it arrived today, a day shy of 5 weeks. It did not have my name on it, only the address (shipped to my job), I'm quite glad that I told the mail clerk I was waiting on it.
