Trackrock Blog

Here was the spring thread from 2016. It has a wealth of info as well as some more pictures.

The iron in the hat threw me off when i heard it described, so I took a picture of the table to explain what sort of stuff was the "iron"

I think this picture really captures it. Lots of guys from 8 to 80 standing around talking and having fun.

Little background info for those interested.
Mark Williams and I got together via the internet and decided we wanted to get together any interested parties for a simple inpromtu hammer-in somewhere in N GA. After a pretty good search, Mark found Trackrock Campgrounds and talked to the late Tommy Alexander - owner/manager. He welcomed us with no limitations, so on a cool rainy weekend in Sept. 16 years ago, four drowned rats lit their forges up under the pavillion behind the office and commenced down the road to something we never expected. That was 32 events ago and you can see where we are now. Clayton Reeves (caters the BBQ) fed 120 people on Sat. this past event.

We have been able through the gracious hospitality of the Alexanders, to keep this event alive, continue to grow and free to the public. There have been a few rough spots but they were minor. I have been fortunate to be surrounded by old and new friends who will step up and help out anywhere needed. Thanks to all of you that now make this event work. I am truly a blessed man.

Carl,

My son and I are deeply grateful to be a part of this event now. We're newbies, but I'm telling you we plan our year around it! We're already talking about plans for Spring 17, the spot is reserved, and I'm saving the few nickels and dimes I have left over after Andy, Allen, Rick (and now you) drain my bank account each week or so.

Thanks for all you do with this. The way you welcome us...and everyone else for that matter, is just remarkable. So glad to be a part of this.

Tony (and that little kid...what's his name again?)

nice blog mistwalker.

Awesome event too. Luckily crex asked if he could forge something for me, Which was a huge honor for me and it meant I didn't have to do it.

those knives look familiar:)
