I'm in! Just dropped the cash for the tickets. I'll be rolling in from Japan the night before, so I can only guess how much jet lag there will be, but in the end it will all be worth it!

Swo!!!

I have a text from Carl that confirms the dates at Friday March 23 and Saturday March 24.

I've already started packing, and just got confirmation I have the days off from work.

Tony

AWESOME! I really look forward to this weekend. It restores my faith in humanity-- now I've never been there with some of the more colorful characters (Bob), so maybe I'm overdoing it, but for now, I still have the hope....

Buddy I know how particular you are about running that barbecue grill. It was my introduction to you years ago. So my advice is don't let Bob anywhere near it. He has no clue how to get the charcoal going. You should have seen how much I had to help him last time! He and Robert from @fiddlebackoutpost couldn't get out of their own way. It was great that I showed up and saved the day.

In regard to No. 2 above, Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild website has a great info page about it. Seems you just have to be able to find it! :) As for question No. 1....never been but the guys at the shop say it’s a great time!

I’m sure more experienced guys will chime in but it’s a great time for all ages. You can watch master craftsmen make knives and leather goods, fellowship with folk that like the same things you do (usually sharp things), but probably my favorite is watching Carl, Allen and others working with the young guys and gals. They have a passion to pass on their craft. I’ve seen Carl help a little guy that could barely reach the anvil. My 11 year old daughter truly looks forward to going and expects Allen to help her work on her 3rd knife with him next month.

Guys I can’t make the spring TR only the fall one. However, I can do a video conference to walk you all through the bbq grill setup. First thing and most important....don’t use the so-called charcoal that Tony brings.

For the un-initiated:

1) what exactly is trackrock
2) how does one get invited

1) Attended my first one in Fall (I was uninitiated before), drove my 1200gs up and camped. Had a blast, but took a while to ease in....ALOT going on everywhere in the forging area. Forged a knife last day, thanks Carl/Team. Went food shopping in a tiny car, cooked food on fireproof charcoal, had the best cobbler in my life.
2) Come on down you're invited.

Who's going to drive to the food store??????

Like I said, it will restore your faith in humanity. It's a bunch of knife people meeting up in the north Georgia woods at a campground that the host lets us take over the barn. You will learn more in a weekend than a year of watching you tube videos. Masters will be teaching kids who think it's a hoot to bang a nail into a knife. A class will break out on sheath making. A discussion on nessmucks here and a pipe wrench being made into a knife there--- at the end of the day, everyone will find their way around a campfire. It can be a little intimidating at first, but really, it's mostly me that is holding back because I don't know names... Just jump in and ask questions, "What you got going on there?" is always the easy one...

I started gathering things up over the weekend.

I have a favor to ask of VANCE VANCE ... can you bring some of the new knives for us to check out? The Cummings knives, Bush Reaper and Bush Tasker?
ill see what i can do

Tentatively scheduled to attend on Sat....would be great to put some faces w/ these avatars.

My face is my Avatar, but if you feel you may be lost listen for Andy's laugh.

For the un-initiated:

2) how does one get invited

1) There is no way to accurately describe Trackrock without attending. The cut and paste from the GA guild site is a piece, the Trackrock threads on this forum are a piece, and then there is the dark underbelly of Trackrock where all the inside stories and innuendos reside.

2) Just show up with a semi clear conscience, easy going attitude, an empty belly, and a bottle of bourbon (preferably 12 years or older) and you are good to go. Everything else will fall into place.
