Ok. So i have 2 spyderco technos. A guy offered to trade me a dpx hest mr dp limited edition for it. However i know nothing about dpx knives? What should i expect? Is this a good trade? It looks cool and is a size i like. But what the heck is nilox? Lol. Looks wise i like it but how is it functionally? QTNA

Since you don't have a paid membership here, I don't think you're supposed to ask for knife value. "Is this a good trade" seems to fall in that category of questions.

The way i understand that rule is that dont ask for a sale value. Im not asking that. Im asking if its a good trade. Will i be happy with the knife. Will it perform at the same level as the techno

I think he means he has two Technos and somebody has offered to trade him a DPx for one of those Technos.

I'd suggest you read the many reviews for the DPx that are online and watch the youtube reviews and decide for yourself. You can easily google to find their respective values when purchased new. Then make your decision.

As for 'what is niolox?' http://www.itoolsteel.com/userfiles/file/ITS Niolox Special Wear Stainless-Updated-2012.pdf

As far as functionality, the DPx is probably more of a 'hard use' folder than the Techno.

Wow more hard use than the techno? This little chunky thing is a beast and im hard on stuff so thats definitely somthing i like to hear!

The DPx has a thicker blade than the Techno and it has this rotolock thing that you can twist to lock the integral lock and keep it from somehow popping out and letting the blade close, which is why I would say it's a harder use knife.

Maybe a little money going his way depending on the condition of each knife and how much you really want a DPX...
Certainly not 2X Techno, if that is what the OP means...

It depends.

Trades are, IMHO, more of a personal matter and in the case of knives (unless you're a flipper) the one thought that should enter your decision in every trade is: "Do I want the new knife more than the one that I am trading away?" If the answer to that is "yes" then it is a good trade. Shouldn't matter what others think and if you're not flipping, then value-for-value shouldn't matter much. If you don't want the knife that bad, then don't trade just for the sake of trading. Wait until something comes along that you prefer. It'll happen. ;)

Best of luck on your decision.
