I decided after suffering some brutal hand wounds from my Mastiff that I wanted to trade it for a BR to try out the handles. After tons of offers (some of which included a BR along with some nice knives like Rangers and Bark Rivers, even trade for the Mastiff), I decided to trade with Leatherman, Dwayne Puckett of Armoralleather, not only because he was first in line, but because I love his work with sheaths, and he offered to throw one made to my liking into the bargain.
I got the knife a few days ago, and put it to work this weekend. I did some throwing, pounded the tip into several logs, chopped a very tough, knotty walnut log about three to four inches thick in half, and did some batoning, splitting and other random chopping with it as well. Of course, the knife performed wonderfully and held an edge perfect with no derforming, but what mattered to me is that never once did I have to stop because my hand hurt, and never once did I get and blisters or broken skin as I did with my Mastiff. To me the trade was an utter success.
In light of these experiences, I've decided I'm going to try to pick up as many of the old line models as I can. I just snagged a HR that I can't wait to get my hands on.
Here's some pictures of the BR and the awesome sheath (Black Kydex Fusion Lowride) Mr. Puckett stitched together for me:
