Yes, I get has become quite clear to me that buying your next really must feature that you first study your own needs... What particular profile is the right one for that knife... In order to gain you seem seem to be able to let go :-)

I do not plan to use/carry (illegal in Belgium, collectioning and keeping them at home is no problem) all of my knives, the blade wich is most often with is the AL MAR 2K SERE. As I'm a cop, I don't ever go to work without it. And another thing, I really find my needs for daily cutting or so be small, what the would I keep feeding my nice knives... I'm not planning to take a big coardboard box and treat my self to "a real nice" cutting job. I'm a freak but not in that way *grin*.

However, my collection should feature at least some impressions, and since my budget is limited to real high end to offer a good piece of some of "the different types of trades". So my knives will not be subjected to hell but does not in any way soften my needs for nice cutting stuff, a blade I have needs to be able to be able to perform his intended use. It has to ready :-) However unlikely I will ever actually NEEEEED it... I want to find out what this world is all about (I know... Just trying is fine too :-) And in all, in my life superblades are not actually essential... Just keeping myself busy.

One steel that really actually bothers me is "154CM". I do not own, however they say it is really nice and to plan too. Dzjees... some facory brands and to my dissapoint ment the custom world I'm now discoverring lacks orginalty. Sure... the make knifes in every form possible.... OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH and I and juuuuuuuuuuuuuust love these very nice stag or bone handles... Mother of pearl is sooooooooooo fine. Thanks to custom makers... They can't seem to get beyond there 154CM admiration, this really makes me doubt if they are really a honest and in to knives... To me knifing is all about to discovering, giving new concepts, and however... to stay unbiassed and unwilling to change... For no... at least some of the customs manufacturers do not seem to keep it fresh. And by god... NEVER ever will I even considder those ghastly ugly, natural-style handle. I want hightech performance that question itself all the time and that unrelentless aims for perfection. Never obtaining that is the harsh reality, but real close is good to :-)

I'm currently looking into S60V, in nice tradeoff for S30V and S90V.
And I would like to overcome my fear for stainable... They seem to offer some particular benefits however to there stainability... 9V or CPM10V or CPM3V, I hear that they are real good. Also superhard seems interesting, very brittle or not... M2 seems to earn a try.

Oh and custom knives will be keeping me interested... I want dismiss them (however, thaaaaaaat expensive, to they makeup their price with quality... *lol*)
Well, this hobby actually can keep you busy :-)

Thanks a bunch

I have to totally agree with that statement, as for the rest of your post I have to admit, I have no idea what you're talking about.

If you're saying that making a decision on your next knife will be a trade-off in some way or another, I believe you're right. It sounds like you're starting off to be an Alloy-Adict in addition to being a budding Knifenut. I think it's good to be aware of the new steels coming out, but don't be too fast to dismiss some of the tried and true steels that have been around for a while. That's another benefit of choosing the right maker or manufacturer in your knife selections, you learn to trust them to use the right steel for the intended use of the knife. As well as all of the other design elements that go into making of a quality knife.

I think having a limited budget has itt's advantages also. It forces you to take the time to do your homework on each knife purchase and will make you less likely to jump on the latest flavor of the month knife fad and make you think more long term and how this next knife will fit in your collection. This can save you thousands of dollars over time.

Enjoy the journey.

Yeah, I do keep my eyes peeled. That's the whole idea... Just bying many would not be that satisfactory and if I were to buy everything I liked...Eh, well... Let us no that it will NOT happen :-)

I do get carried away in this all but that's my idea... In the actal "people-world", I will behave and act not just as a madman.

Actually it is quite satisfactory to me to find something that is really compelling because I do not get excited fast and even more rarely stay it. Hope this will continue to make me more happy ;-)

Greetings :-)
