I have a question for my fellow knife knuts out there. When you complete a successful trade in the exchange forums, Are you offended when the other party puts that knife they acquired right back up for trade? I don't see a problem with it, As long as both parties are happy with the original transaction. But I can't help but wonder if the other party sees their old knife back in the exchange and takes offense. Is there some kind of waiting period you should observe before going for another deal? I ask b/c sometimes I will complete a trade knowing that a knife I may be acquiring is more appealing to others than the one I am offering. Is there something wrong with this practice?? Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks

I never take offense at that TBG and it's happened to me a few times, heck doesn't bother me one little bit.

Me too.
The only thing I do is make sure the other person is happy with the trade, this way I'm keeping it long enough to trade them back if they're unhappy.
Other than that... fair game!

Some people trade just to trade.
I'm like that. I'll have maybe ten knives go through my hands and keep one that I absolutely love and keep trading the rest.

For me it's a journey. I get to check out a lot of knives this way and I'm slowly building a collection of favorites.

Like fulloflead, I think trading is a lot of fun and allows you to "test drive" knives you have a particular interest in.

I like having as much time as I like to test and handle and experiment with my knives. AND my local knifeshop tends to call security when I start shadowfighting and severing free hanging rope with their merchandise.

Provided both parties are happy after the trade, you can do whatever you please with the knife. It now belongs to YOU.

Who gives a rat's ass about feelings? :D That's what's wrong with society today. Everyone is worried about feelings.

LMAO Thats a good point, thanks for the Feedback guys :D

FWIW, I took a gun trade for 3 knives I knew I absolutely didn't want, plus a little cash. But it was what the guy who wanted the gun had to offer. I turned around and immediately traded off the knives for what the approximate value that part of the gun trade was for. Sure, I turned over what I just got but saw it as more of a service to the guy who wanted the gun as anything else. Buying, selling and trading is fun! I wouldn't worry about it too much, unless the values are hugely different. If they are, please bring it up on GB+U so we all can know who would take advantage of another forumite. BTW,I have sold a knife to another forumite who turned around and sold it off- forums for a good profit. He split the diff with me without being asked. That's what this place is all about!

No problem at all. Once its in his hands and he acknowledges there are no problems with it its his to do as he pleases with. Heck, I have had trades pending on knives that were incoming. Happens a lot when you trade someone knife A for his B, but B is worth considerably less than A. You still like A so you accept anything reasonable as C to get somewhat close to even. So you have B you like and C that you have no real attachment to. It makes good trade fodder sometimes.

Good job! Now THAT'S a successful trade! I've tried to make deals like that a few times but have only been successful maybe once. I think THIS is a perfect example of why the trade forum is so valueable and why the moderators protect that area (and rightly so!) so well from people just trying to sell. That's a great example of how well trading can work out as compared to just buying and selling.

Sometimes, you JUST DON'T HAVE CASH FOR what you want, but with a nice trade forum like we have you can get what you want using things you have that others want as leverage.

AND it IS a ton of fun!

Like I tell my girlfriend and skeptical people at work...
Some people collect coins or stamps or Pokemon cards. I trade nice knives with people from all over the world. Everyone needs a hobby.

I'm wondering about that myself.
Thanks for the opinions.

I've done trades like Dave describes many times. Someone really wants the thing you're offering, and offers multiple knives to meet the value. I didn't really want the knives, but I know others will and I can trade them off. I like horse-trading, it's fun. Made quite a few friends that way, and no enemies that I know of. Plus I get to see the item I'm offering go to someone who really wants it.

Good all around.

If I see someone trading a knife they got from me, I'll usually chime in and comment about the one offering it "He's a great guy to deal with." or talk up the value/condition of the knife, "This knife is WAY COOL!" I always try to help them out, because, hey, they helped me:D:D

not offended, just saddened, because now 2 people are unhappy with the knife instead of just 1.

...lil guy just wants a home...
