Trading knives for guns? (just looking for information, this is the right forum!)

Some time ago I was looking through the classified section of some publication about knives and saw an interesting offer. Someone wanted to trade a knife collection for guns. He was willing to do partial trades -- a knife or two for each gun. At the time I thought it very interesting, but it didn't apply to me. Well………

I am now the owner of a bunch of guns (don't ask, it would take a lot of typing). I immediately thought of selling them, but then I remembered this ad. The problem is that I must have a couple of thousand pieces of paper with knife related information on them, and I can't find the classified ad. Does anyone out there remember this ad? If yes, please let me know. With my luck the guy probably doesn't have any upper level, high quality knives, but the only way to find out is to check with him.

If it's any help, I remember the ad in the classified section being on the right side of an open newspaper-like publication. The ad in question was in the middle of three columns, near or at the top. The publication was on white paper.

The guns? Well this is a knife forum and I don't want to get in trouble. I am NOT offering them for trade or sale on this forum. In fact, with all the new laws I'm not sure how to trade or sell them. Last gun I bought was in 1985. All are in excellent shape and of high to excellent quality, no junk. Not being a real gun expert it's hard for me to put a value on them, and I don't want to spend weeks looking up values and doing research I'd rather do on knives. I hope this person has knives worth trading for. I'd hate to have people looking for this classified ad only to find he's offering Pakistan type POS.

Thank you everyone that looks through their memory for this strange classified ad.

Thank you , Mike Kyle.

Interesting enough I went the opposite route - trading guns for knives. I traded a couple of non-PC rifles for five Mad Dogs and cash. Now California is a safer place and I've more usable stuff.

E-mail me your list. I am always interested in good trades. I used to be a gun dealer and had a shop. I may be able to help you with the value and the laws involved. I still have alot contacts in the gun business.

I myself am also intersted in this list and maybe some pictures too, but I have several folders for trade what are you looking for in a trade.......

with all the new laws I'm not sure how to trade or sell them.
Basically, you find an FFL (Federal Firearms Licensee) on your end. The person who wants the firearm finds one on his end. Money (or knives) changes hands between you and your FFL, between the person getting the firearm and his FFL, and between that person and you. The receiving FFL sends a signed copy of his license to your FFL. The firearm is then sent from your FFL to the receiving FFL.

Note: all of this is necessary in California. Some parts might not be necessary in your, or the other person's, state. Of course, if you trade with someone in your own state, then you need to find out the particulars in your state. In California, it would still have to go through an FFL.

BTW, I've seen firearms listed in the appropriate forums here.
