Because I don't want to get any warnings/infractions for misunderstanding or missing parts of the rules, I'm going to ask some questions that I have regarding the trading forum.

I've seen other non-paying members post "+ or - money" in trade threads, is this allowed? I have a knife that I don't want and don't know perceived value of, but I know I want a knife that is worth less. Would it be against the rules to request said knife plus some money to compensate for differences or is this technically "selling" the knife? If this is not allowed how would I best go about the process of trading this knife for one that is roughly half the list price? I can be a giving person, but I'd rather trade on a level field, and not give my knife away. While I don't want it anymore I know it's way better than what I'm looking for, and I would feel like an idiot for trading it at roughly half off. I don't want to have to list it on an auction site and then buy what I'm looking for, because I've made an agreement to myself that my cash is all going towards a new camera (I'm a photographer) and school before anything else. Trading can be a nice little work-around ;)

As I tried to explain to a mod who gave me a warning for the last thread I made - I have no interest in selling the knife, but I want to make sure that my trade is fair for both parties, and that there are no problems on either end. I use "Shawn7656" as my user-name for everything online (At least 10 accounts. Go ahead, Google it) and my reputation will follow me way past this site, so I don't want something to come back and bite me, or for me to make a huge mistake and get the short end of the stick.

Thanks for reading, I look forward to your suggestions.

No, it is not.

You may only post the knife that is up for trade and list the knife or knives that you would consider as fair trade in return. Period.
The discussion of money by either the thread starter or a participant is a violation of the terms of service (rules) and is grounds for an infraction.

Members who support the site at the gold level and above have the opportunity to either sell or trade the knife, rendering the issue moot. If having the site accommodate your needs is so important, perhaps you will consider accommodating the site via your support. While it is certainly not required to do so to trade, your options are otherwise limited in what you are able to do here.

The choice is yours but the answer (above) stands.

I have no problems with the rules, I'm just trying to make sure I understand them properly. I assumed the "trade + money" thing was against the rules, but I wanted to clarify.

I will probably be able to get a Gold membership here eventually, but right now my money needs to go towards more personal things (as noted above).

Thanks for your reply. It's appreciated
