I found this RGM professional diver at watchseller last night. I had lusted after this one back in 07 after seeing it in one of those expensive glossy watch magazines at Borders. It had a list price of $4250. From what I have researched, only a few hundred were made. It is waterproof to 2500' with a helium escape valve and also resists magnetic fields (which is something my Rolex SD doesn't do). It's approx the size of the Rolex Deepsea SD @ 43mm and weighs approx 8ozs with the steel bracelet. I'm a sucker for big clunky wrist bricks. The modified ETA cal 2892-A2 21 jewel automatic movement maintains accurate time within a tolerance of four seconds per day. Owning a Rolex was fun but it's time to get back to reality. This watch seems to be a helluva lot more durable than my Rolex and that matters because I wear my watch 24/7. An added bonus is the cash I will be receiving from the dealer in this partial trade.

That's beautiful. It looks like a tank though. You can always beat someone with it if you get cornered.

RGM is a nice watch but I wouldn't trade mine for it, even if it is a plus cash deal. The SD is discontinued and resell value had increased quite a bit since. There are at least two price increases per year, and it is rumored the next Rolex price increase will be 5% in first part of October. I prefer the SD myself but that's just my opinion.

Impressive. The resistance to magnetic fields is really cool. Is the band made of chain maille?

I would never trade a SD for it, what do you think the resale on the RGM would be say 5 years from now.Even with cash back I wouldnt do it.

From the research I've done, the RGM is much tougher than a Rolex. Also helps that nobody inclined to rob knows what RGM is.

I've beat the hell out of my Sub over the 10 years I've owned it and it just comes back for more. In the end CM, if the RGM is what you want buy it, I just cant ever imagine that down the road it will bring you what the SD will in resale.

Not planning on resale. I own one watch... actually, right now I don't have a watch. Should get here Wednesday.

Got it today. Pretty close to 1/2 pound with the SS bracelet. Tomorrow I'll see what kind of dive straps my jeweler has i stock.

Then again... how many people regularly dive to 4000'? I'm certainly cool with trading 1500' for resistance to magnetism :)
