Presenting "Kwauhteykwahn'tlohtseen".

A traditional 14" dueling bowie knife hammer forged in a charcoal fired forge from recycled reclaimed mystery tool steel mixed with copper. Differentially heat treated.

Solid brass hammer forged hilt from recycled reclaimed brass, hammer fit solid then soldered to tang, traditional hide sleeve and pinwork on arizona ironwood scales, naturally sealed.

That's a pretty cool and unique package and it does look like it took quite some time to make.

It's great to see a true backyard forged primitive piece so far outside the box. Great imagination, and obvious skill displayed. Well done, man. Very well done!

Great work, so many textures and aspects I enjoy about this knife and sheath, and appreciate so much being reclaimed and repurposed! Thanks for posting!

I was reading your website. This was all done without electricity? Wow! A true Neo-tribal masterpiece.

Thank you very much David. That can just about almost be said with this particular knife. Bo lives off grid in what most Americans refer to as "northeastern/eastern central Arizona" just outside of zuni and far away from any paved roads, or electrical lines or plumbing or even cell phone coverage. And up until the past 6 knives bo has made he had did so using absolutely no electric power what so ever to produce any of his knives from beginning to end. But recently with the past 6 knives he has made within the past 2 years, there has been only one part of the process where bo must come to my home (which is as well 100% off grid) and borrow my small jewelers dremel powered by 2 solar power panels that I use for my silverwork, to put in the flint knapped looking divots in his finished blades after he has just finished quenching and tempering his blade. This is the only part in the making of his past 6 knives where he has used anything other than traditional hand tools to start and finish a knife. And all his knives before these 6 he never did this knapped flint look. This takes him from 3 days of work with my small jewelers dremel up to more than a week on and off depending on the size of the blade as well as the season and type of sun my solar panels are getting for him to put the flint knapped divots into a single blade with my small jewelers dremel since it is ran by a pair of solar panels and is very underpowered. The rest of the process from beginning to end is 100% done without the use of any electricity or power tools of any kind, other than traditional hand tools. Their are some knives I know that he started more than 2 years ago he is still working on and off on and not near finished with. A traditional Post-Columbian fighting machete like those used in and after the "Chichimec Rebellions" of the mid 1500's-1700s called a "mahtlahwhehlee" being one of such.
