I'd say the KA-BAR Dozier and Vic recruit make a decent combo.

I like to pair modern folders with SAKs or scout knives. It adds a lot of versatility, the awl and screwdrivers on the SAK keep me from doing stupid stuff with my main knife, and I also get an extra blade to use for food or to cut things in places where a larger "tactical" knife might get odd looks.
