I went to a museum not long ago and saw something called "Chinese Trousse" consisting of a knife and a small pair of of chopsticks. Apparently gentlemen were suppose to carry these things as part of their formal dress. It was common practice from Mongolia to Vietnam right up to the beginning of the 20th century.

They look kind of neat, I thought I should post some pics to commemorate my becoming a basic member. It'd be nice to have a set made for myself.

Some of these trousse sets got pretty elaborate.

Super neat-o. It's too bad that a kind of pocket knife doesn't appear that it'll become mainstream fashion in the west anytime soon though. I'd love to be able to carry a fixed blade and not be looked at like a freak.

What a great concept, beautiful work, too.

We have simpler versions in the West. Aitor has a military-style knife, fork, and spoon in a canvas pouch. Boker makes a stag-handled knife and fork set in a leather sheath. I've got a pair of titanium chopsticks in a leather sheath.

Chopsticks, knife, fork, spoon, and the rest, in a hard case? Excellent. Picnic, anyone? :D
