I just got my Rat Tail from the last Busses Extravaganza, and it isn't cord wrapped. I don't know how to do it myself, and I don't want to just wrap paracord around it. I was wondering if anybody here knows somebody I could contact to have it proffessionaly done. It's brown/tan coated, rather than black, and I thought it would be very nice with a dark brown leather cord wrap in the traditional Japanese stlye. Is that a possibility?

Thanks for any help.

I'm sure someone does Japanese blade grips professionally,
but you don't need that.

Find some instructions by browsing this search,
& try it yourself.
It may take a 2nd try,
but you'll be pleased with your own work.

about half the sites found are for sports,
but easy to find the blade related.

IIRC, there was an article in Blade a while back with Wally Hayes showing how to wrap a Tanto. It didn't look very complicated. He was the one who orginally wrapped the Rat Tails, as well. With a few tries, you should be able to get good results yourself (and sore fingers)
I like the idea about the dark brown wrap on the tan blade.

I appreciate the encouragement, but I'm really looking to have a professional do it. I'm not big on tinkering around myself. I want it to look nice and professional.

sorry, no personal recomendations to give.

here's a search that has lots of names offering wrapping service.

good luck

I contacted Mr. Hayes, and he agreed to do it for me. He seems like a really nice guy. Does anybody know where I can order some leather wrap for the handle that is a good place to deal with offhand? I'll search on my own, but it would be great if somebody knew a good place off the top of their head.

It goes without saying that pics will be required. :D
