These are custom knives,of course you know. The stockman is pretty traditional. Now this little Charles May fixed blade, may not be as traditional,as one would think of a fixed blade, but man, what an EDC Combo !

TLC,Yes,I feel Charles'knives are traditional, too.I just was saying, that the fixed blade in the pocket, was not what you would think of for a fixed blade.
Does anyone know of any old time fixed blades with carry sheaths like this?

That is indeed a great EDC combo. Great minds think alike I guess. ;) The same idea came to me a few weeks ago. I have a Tom Krein jigged bone neck knife ordered with about two more weeks before delivery. I plan to send it to Paul Long for a leather belt sheath instead of the kydex neck one. A Case bone handle, small Texas jack is due in about a week to complete the combo.

Here's a little May and Chamblin pocket carry.Stellars Sea Cow & red jig bones.

"Great Minds",LOL! ?
Feel free to post pictures of your Combo's.Come on down!

When I go through my knives, I always think these two make a good match up.

Charles May Holt Collier Special in D2 and Ironwood.

And a Queen #49 Cattle King in D2 and Cocobolo.

A David Winston in Ironwood, with a clip sheath for pocket, belt, or horizontal carry...and a Todd Davison folder in Mesquite. When you have that "Woody" thing.....feeling, that is...or something like that. :o

Nice blades,Thanks for the shots.Nothing like the feel of a wood handled tool.
The larger fixed blades by Charles May are real comfy.David Winston! Fluted Ironwood!Wolgang, Handmades from the local makers in your area ?
Please keep these combos coming.

TLC,That'd be the Pocket Rocket, spear point blade,in tan G-10,with black liners and nickel steel pins. That is the leather pocket pouch, with no grommets.

One of these,

Exposito Navaja (not carbon :( )
Laguiole Fontenille Pataud

Wolfgang: really nice your kneissler :) I really will think about to get one, too!

@VCM3
Not very close (250 km to the maker of the slippie and ~ 120 km to Peter Abel.) But compared to american distances really close.:D
(I meet Peter several times a year at german bladeshows.)
Mr. Kneissler makes his farmers knives really rough but tough ;) and sells them at ~ 30.- - 35.- USD!!! He has no internet access.
Peter`s website is www.lindenschmiede.de just in case somebody is interested in his work. :D

You've heard me mention both of these before. Both with synthetic handles. Both tossed in a package from a friend on here. And both have become favorites. I've passed over my nicer knives to use these. Today I wanted to carry something different in my pocket. As I tried out different things and finally decided I still popped the Queen jack into my watch pocket too. Pure, inexspensive working class knives. The Queen has a beautiful walk, talk, and snap to it opening and closing. Both knives just feel good in the hand, carry very well, and work great. Both cut like crazy.

The blades are clean and shiny. The discolorations are from the the scanner (reflections).

o/' Blame it all on my roots, I showed up in boots, and ruined your black tie affair. o/' :D

Unpretentious! And life doesn't end if you scratch or nick 'em!
Whereas a "safe queen" is a symbol of wealth and greed sometimes (not in the worst sense), these knives will do some loyal work, and not complain about a pea under the mattress!

Nice knives one and all. I will sometimes carry a Queen CBS Tear Drop and a BRKT Antique Bone Mini-Canadian fixed blade. I'll snap a photo later and post.

By the way.....I've had my eye on the Queen Cobo Cattle King like the one Last Confederate posted. Don't have but a very few stockman-like patterns.....don't know why, I do like a stockman well enough; a blade for chores, a blade for food, and one more for butting a cigar and such; and I sure like the grain on the Cocobolo Queen uses. They seem like a bargin.....and I know Queen has switched over to Bird's Eye Maple for wood scales. Guess I better get one soon.....dang you Last Confederate....I mean thank you Last Confederate ! :D

-regards
