Traditional Folder Scales

Hey guys, I'm working on some traditional folders for the first time and plan on using exotic wood, bone, and stag handle scales. I know that these are traditionally just pinned, my question is whether it is preferable to also use epoxy nowadays? Or is that frowned upon? I was just thinking it would make pinning easier and prevent crap from ever getting under the scales. These will be similar to stockman's and other early 1900s styles.

Thanks!

I use adhesive, that being said many have been made traditionally that are only pinned.

I use a very thick type of gap-filling cyanoacetate to secure them before pinning but depend on the peening process to really secure them. Its to keep dust and crap out, not really for the main securing force.
