Maybe it's just my collection in particular, but in my experience with traditional folders the points often run very close to the edge of the scales in the closed position. It seems to me that this would give you a very short sharpening life, relatively speaking, on the blade before the point protrudes from the handle when closed. I often find myself afraid to do more than simply strop my traditionals.
Am I being paranoid or do you find this to be the case (no pun intended) yourself?
