I've wanted to do a GAW for awhile now, but was waiting on a knife that struck a nice balance between personal taste and connection to the Forums. Well, that knife finally came in the form of a mod-ed GEC #54 I recently got back from Glenn. He did a fanstastic job and was extremely generous with his time in putting it together. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to "pay it forward" so to speak. As for the mods themselves - Glenn changed the covers to walnut (I believe), the shield, & altered the factory spear to a sheepfoot. This mod reflects my favorite traditional blade combination...so, the knife represents something I personally like a great deal, while at the same time connecting itself to great members like Glenn and all the skill, knowledge & generosity folks have here.
Anyway, I don't do much around here but post pics and comment on others' collections, but I enjoy this "place" so thought it would be fun to give back.
Playing is simple enough - just post "I'm in" in the thread to enter and on Thursday noon Pacific Time I'll choose a random number as the winner, based on the number of entries (the old "numbers in a hat" routine). I will ship anywhere in the lower 48 (that's the only "catch").
So post away and maybe share a few thoughts on the pattern & why you like it etc. for good measure
A few notes to bear in mind as you consider interest: the pulls are about a 7 or so, strong, but not killers; the blades are absolutely razor sharp; this pattern is a hearty one and has a nice heft to it.
Now for the pics:
