I have a vintage old timer stockman that the sheepsfoot and main blade have a lot of blade play and i wanted to know if there is any way to tighten the blades without decreasing the snap?

Sadly old schrade used the swinden key design instead of the straight through pin which is peeled upon the bolsters. Sadly there isn't really a way to easily and consistently tighten the play on the old times without tearing the knife completely apart or drilling out the pin hole and then peening a new pivot.

Would hammering it where i think the pin is work?

No, don't do that. Due to the Swindon key construction, you won't be hammering anything or accomplishing anything except beating up the knife. The Swindon key construction is one reason I didn't buy any Schrade's. What you think is the bolsters are hollow shells hiding the location of the pin. You'd have tp take off the bolsters to expose the pins and it's opening a can of worms. JUst use like it is or toss it in the drawer.

Yep, what they said. I don't know much about it, but I do know to trust Mr.Jackknife. Best to keep that one as a collectable. Considering that its probably had a good long life, its earned it.

Here's an interesting thread from another forum site (AAPK; look for posts by member 'Orvet'), demonstrating a method to take apart an old Schrade Old Timer 61OT. It's an interesting read, with pics, and a lot of discussion of the Swinden Key and some (possible) ways for dealing with it. Nothing about it looks easy or simple to me, and it may not be a definitive solution (I don't know). But it might be helpful if you're really committed to rebuilding the knife:
