I'd be interested to hear suggestions for a magazine focusing on traditional knives, or one that regularly includes some traditional content. Folders or fixed, doesn't matter.

Maybe a "Porch Monthly" ??

It's been a while since I've had a subscription of any kind.
Thanks in advance.

Knife World's Knife Magazine. They have a little bit of everything mostly customs. This month's has an article about Frank Powers which is kinda cool because the articles are typically about knife makers and events...not dealers/collectors.
It is a nice big magazine with lots of pretty pictures and information I highly recommend it

Thought I'd follow up a bit...
waverave waverave steered me right. Knife Magazine from Knife World is a great find. I went online and opted for a free copy. It arrived yesterday and it's pretty sweet. Lots of traditional content. I'm gonna get a subscription. And it's a big magazine-- 9.5 X 13, whereas regular mags are about 8 X 10.

Thanks waverave (and Jody744 Jody744 ) It's nice to have something fun in the mail :thumbsup:

The latest issue of Knife magazine has a great article on Folders with Marlin Spikes by our own herder (Neal Punchard). Life is not complete without my regular issue!!
That was an interesting piece on Marlin spikes.
Never knew those have nothing to do with the fish by that name.

"Knife Magazine" is a wonderful source of information on all types of knives including traditional models both old and new. Articles are always well researched and written by knowledgeable people, and some by fellow forum members. Both Charlie (waynorth) and Jack Black have contributed great articles to the magazine.
Here are just a few traditional knife subjects that were covered by "Knife Magazine" in 2018 :

"Thomaston"
"Cattaraugus"
"History of the Barlow Knife"
"Wharncliffe Knives"
"Tiffany (Bowie Knife)"
"W.R. Case & Sons"
"Ciphered (English) Blade Knives"

I think its Marlinespike...
Yes... The article says that is the older name, 13th century or later and coincides with the appearance of the surname "Marlin" in England.

From the article: A "marline" is a light rope of two strands used for binding larger ropes.

The spike is designed to unite knots and splice ropes. Perhaps there are British English and American English differences in nomenclature. The article uses "marlin spike" throughout the writing.

Interesting.
