Traditional Knives and Leather Gun Holsters

I have seen traditional knives paired with many different things on this forum.....coffee mugs, watches, beverages, archery equipment, modern knives, guitars, guns, buckles, records, bling, and I am sure there are some more. To me, handmade traditional knives can be a work of art and I was trying to think of something else that knife folks might also have that would fit under this category.

So, I was thinking traditional knives paired with leather gun holsters (no kydex allowed). Leather holsters definitely can be beautiful works of art in their own right. Makers of knives may be apparent to most here, but it might be a good idea to give some information on your holsters. Holsters can include guns, since many times that is how we have already taken the pictures, but we want the knives and the holsters to be the stars. Show us what you've got.

This holster was made by SD MYRES of El Paso, Texas. It is probably about 75 years old.

I inherited this from my father. Belt and holster was from the New Jersey militia and pistol was from the New Jersey militia (barrel stamp). Nickel on the pistol is not thought to be original. Serial # says it left colt in 1884. A lot of fakes and replicas out there.image.jpgimage.jpgas far as the pistol goes the frame, cylinder, and barrel military inspector marks match. The cartouche on the walnut grips are there but faint. The belt, holster and cartridge holder I have no idea. The firearm and belt were not found together

That gun is very old & possibly quite dangerous! You need to send it to me for proper disposal. No charge.
You're welcome.:)

I was hoping there would be some classic/traditional flap holsters shown. :)

That is an impressive combination. I like that you have an original matching cartrige pouch to complete the set. Originals of those are rather rare. I mostly see reproductions, if the person bothers with a cartridge pouch at all.

Here's a little video afishhunter afishhunter that shows some of my knives and holsters including some flap holsters. Its just a few seconds long. Its from last night when we had our booth set up at our local rodeo.

Beautiful work as usual. Was that you holding the Colorado Koolaid?

Yes sir and thanks. My wife Nichole was shooting the vid and thats our good friend and pard, Janine sitting with me. Kinda a funny story on that beer. The night before the manager of the beer booth had come over and given me a token for a free beer. Being there early the day before and setting up our booth I was their first customer at the beer booth. The kid running the deal at the time, carded me asking for my ID. I got out the DL and showed it to him and then told him a story. True story. it was in the papers, I just happened to know the guy. So last year at the same festival but in a different part of town there is a big craft fair and beer garden set up in a park. A friend of mine, a 90 year old Korean War veteran has leave from the hospital. His daughter, granddaughter and great granddaughters are pushing him and his oxygen bottle around the park in his wheelchair. So they decide to go to the beer garden to get a beer on a hot August day. So my friend has to sit outside of the beer garden because he stopped driving some years back and didn't have a DL. They wouldn't let a 90 year old, Korean War veteran, in a wheelchair, on oxygen, in because he didn't have a piece of plastic that said he was over 21. So the guy looking at my piece of plastic saying I'm over 21 (almost 3 times in my case), says: "well that was stupid". I just looked at him with my well practiced gaze, the gaze that quotes Forrest Gump's mom, the gaze that emphatically says "stupid is as stupid does". So anyhoo the manager after hearing from all his other, just bent over hooting, help, came over and gave a free beer token. Thats that beer. jstrange jstrange .
