Hi, fairly new to this wonderful forum! So much history, information, not to mention all of the drool-generating photos. So, after not buying any knives for 10 years or so (darn kids, ha!), I am looking to buy a few things. After examining the forums quite a bit, I have a pretty good idea of what I want. Let's just say it involves single blade sheepsfoot and Barlow. So, it also seems, that everyone "has that knife coming", whilst I don't even see that style listed on a manufacturers website. And I'm afraid that when they come out, they'll be sold out already? So how exactly does this pre-order deal typically work?

GEC builds their standard knife mods, many of which you can find in one variety or another at the GEC dealers. But, they also make SFO knives which are Special Factory Orders. These are basically a run of knives that are commissioned by someone and then resold. Typically these are in limited numbers and often sell out very quickly and even before they are available through pre-sales.

For the current run you can go to greateasterncutlery.com and I beleive it says who this SFO is for. Can't talk about that here, unfortunately.

And yes...I have that knife coming....sheepsfoot barlow in sawcut tan:D

Hey...just noticed you're in Madison! I'm in Sun Prairie! Welcome to the forum.

Hey, I'm in Kenosha County!! :D

Coolio, click on my name and a little menu should pop up with the option to email me. Email me and I might be able to help you out.

SFO = Special Factory Order.

Keep your eye on the for sale forum here. Hope is not lost... Usually within 1-2 weeks after they come out, people will pare down their investment, or pass the knife along for one reason or another.

Best of luck!
