I know there may be a few here who carry the same knife no matter what, but I think the majority of us chose different knives depending on the task. So, what knives, folder or fixed, do you guys carry when outdoors? Hiking, hunting, fishing, camping, whatever your leisurely outdoor interest is

I carry different knives for different tasks. Since it's the traditional forum I'll have to leave most of them out. But on the traditional side I'll carry a stockman or an Opinel. For fixed I'd have to say a Mora.
I have different knives in different bags depending on what I'm doing. Most of them are of the clipped, one hand opening kind though. And Esee or Busse for fixed but they aren't really traditionals so I won't go into it. :)

As always though, there's a peanut in my pocket. Pretty much no matter what. The only time it isn't on me is if I'm in or on the water.

It's pretty much the same for me. Usually one of three Moras and an Opinel 6, but sometime it's a Vic farmer instead.

If I'm going camping, I take my SAK to open cans and cut food with the large blade. I prefer small traditionals for EDC in the urban world.

If I'm just going hiking, fishing or small game hunting then I just carry my normal EDC pocket knife. Lately it has been a buck 302 but in the last year it has also been a case muskrat or a case pen knife. when I'm out hunting larger game or camping I have a medium size fixed blade with me along with my pocket knife. Usually a buck alpha hunter.

I carry my normal slip joint but if I'm going out in the woods or going fishing/hunting, I'll slip a lockback in it's sheath on my belt. Usually, one of these two.

Although I have several, I don't carry a fixed blade knife anymore but I do have a fixed blade, fillet, knife in all my fishing tackle boxes.

Actually, it doesn't change much. This one is in my pocket more often than any other when I am around town, and when I am camping this does not change.

If I plan on heading outdoors, I prefer to carry a fixed blade. Here's a group shot of my users.

The puukko is my most used knife.

If it's just a stroll nearby, a jack or a stockman.

Anything longer, a Buck 412 on the belt, and an old BSA pocketknife in the rucksack.

very nice choices, Christian

Thank you.

KAMAGONG....I have always wanted to try one of those Blackjacks.....how do you find it?? FES

I like it a lot. Good steel, beautiful stag handle, and a nice sheath. Doesn't get as much use as my puukko or criollo though, I just find them more useful to use. Keep in mind that I'm not a hunter, so I don't have much need for a guard.

I guess that puts me in the minority.

A four inch stockman and a one-hander pretty much take care of my needs whether I'm in the back yard or out camping.

Traditionally for a folder I'll have a Buck 110 or maybe a Svord peasant knife alongside my peanut, and for a fixed blade I usually have a Condor Bushlore or a Ka-Bar Little Finn.

I sometimes use my Fiskmuk in stag and 440C for the pocket, plus several different fixed blades when hunting and scouting.

I used these two last year during deer season: stag handled David Lisch in W2 and bamboo handled David Farmer in L6.

Thanks for the reply...other than sticking pigs, gaurds are superfluous on a hunting knife in my opinion....lovely knives you have there for sure....FES
