First of all, I want to say hello and Merry Christmas to those on this forum. As a new collector (particularly to traditionals) this forum has been a wealth of knowledge. After much consideration and research, I finally ordered six Rough Riders that are sitting in an unopened UPS box under the Christmas tree right now. I will post an update with pictures after they are opened. This might become an addictive adventure....

Welcome aboard and it is definitely addictive. Your collection will grow and your wallet will shrink.

Merry Christmas and welcome to the porch as we like to say here in the Traditional world. I am realitivly new to this forum, but have been addicted to this hobby for over 40 years. I find that as I am growing older that I appreciate things such as a finely crafted Pocket Knife more and more! You will find the members here to be some of the kindest, most generous and certainly the most knowledgeable in our chosen hobby.

Holiday Wishes ~ Ron

The same to you and yours. Also welcome to a great place. You will meet great people and make fast friends.

topwaterlarry, welcome and thanks for the intro.

Look forward to seeing the pics, starting with Roughrider is .a great idea - they make some good knives, and you get serious bang for your dollar, and if you like a certain pattern from there and you want to get serious - you have come to the right place to have a look and decide as to what manufacturer you may like to go with if you want to jump up a notch or two in that particular pattern.

Welcome and Merry Christmas

Welcome, Larry. RRs are a good, inexpensive way to get your feet wet before you move onto the harder stuff. If your wallet is lucky, you'll find that they are all you really need. If not, well, at least you'll get a pretty good idea from them what patterns and handle materials you like once you start using them a bit.

I'm a newbie also. I never knew there was this much interest in traditional knifes. My first was a Barlow. I spent a lot of time behind case, and old timers. Mostly the trapper blades. They sure work and look great. Merry Christmas.

Your first $20 dollar knife is the hardest. Sooner or later you may splurge on a $50 keeper. That $100 knife will suffice until you see that $500 beauty!!!
Sometime you will see that $1500 Red Ryder of your dreams!!! By then your are a lost soul!!! (or divorced)

Just another Larry!!!:D

Welcome!

I remember a few years ago, receiving my first traditional folder in decades. A GEC from a fellow member here. Gifted to me.

That Christmas was an all traditional knife Christmas. I think I ordered 9 Gec, queen, S&M, and AG Russell that year!

It is hard to not go overboard!

Welcome aboard and Merry Christmas

Look what Santa left under the tree....My first Rough Riders. Canoe, Muskrat, Work-Knife (sodbuster), Hawkbill, Trapper, and Copperhead. Very happy with the fit, finish, and feel. The canoe is my early favorite.
