Does anyone know if any companies out there make knives (specifically traditional styled slipjoints) with something like g10 or carbon fiber rather than stag or bone?
Should I just look for custom? Are there any particlar makers that have some examples like this? Anyone have any pics?
Thanks for any help or ideas on this.

Case uses G10 and some other synthetic materials. Thier Black G10 is nicely done.

These are the only pics I have of Black G10 Case knives. Case made some in Orange G10 too a few years ago.

They also made knives for Ruger in red G10.

CID25, If you are ok with micarta (RP# :D) then GEC has made some in the past. Here are 2 scouts in Canvas Micarta/1095 and Goldenrod Micarta/440C.

Thanks for the leads guys, I really like those GECs, the #73 scouts are probably my favorite traditional styled design

GEC also has an extensive array of acrylics if you fancy them. Check Great Eastern Cutlery's website with the dealer links for more exact info.

It should be noted that the Case black G10 series have roughly finished blades, as they're intended as "working" knives. The rough finish might not appeal to everyone.

2dead...that knife down the bottom photo ( Goldenrod Micarta) ....NICE!!

It does look very nice but sadly I don't own one... They're not my pics, just examples of whats out there.

Here's another one, also not one of mine. GEC #61 in Black Paper Micarta.

The teardrop is my favorite pattern and I wanted a modern handle. I ordered one from Brent Cramer. I have a teardrop pattern with carbon fiber handles on the way from Brent. It should arrive this week. Here is the link to the pictures. The pics and link belong to Brent. This thing is great looking and it's just what I wanted. Brent did an outstanding job.

Enjoy!

Randy, that BC looks great! I was wondering when we would begin to see some traditional patterns with carbon fiber scales come out from our custom makers. Carbon fiber seems more 'futuristic' than micarta or other man-mades so I think some have shied away from it. But that teardrop is a perfect example of an old-meets-new marriage that works.

I've got Case Trappers in both orange and black G-10. Very nice looking knives. The "grain" on the black G-10 is especially attractive looking IMO.

Congrats Randy! Brent does awesome work. I bet that TD is gonna be light as feather! That's a real traditional pattern in modern handle material. Nice pull too. What is the closed length? I'm loving mine in ebony I got right before Christmas!

That Teardrop brings home the bacon! Very tasteful rendering of a fine and too scarce pattern, congratulations are in order!

The knife arrived today. Wow, it's more than I imagined and super light just as you stated.

Randy I'm Pleased you like it. I have to admit I was a bit unsure about the nail nick and the CB on that pattern, but I think it works!

There are rumours, in fact contributed to by Sal Glesser at various points, that Spyderco might like to make a line of trad folders

I keep lobbying for a G10/VG10 large sodbuster - you never know

I like the orange G10 ones by Case - the Scout is very pretty

Look at work by Shing and Russell White on British Blades - trads in cf
