There was only one antique shop I had not been to in Simi Valley. This place seemed a bit hoity toity for my taste, which is why I never stopped in,but I was wrong....... They had a nice Syracuse bare head slipjoint pen knife, a Regimentals scheffield R40 with box and papers, looks like an english swiss army knife, and I bought this little illegal piece of memorabilia (in CA anyways). This shop had more knives in than any of the other 3 antique stores in Simi! Time has made it shed it's skin, but the mechanics work quite well. This blade leaps out like a thoroughbred at the Kentucky Derby. I carried it on Father's day, and kept forgetting to set the lock. It opened a few times in my pocket, since I am not used to carrying such a traditional tough guy knife.
It will go on the shelf, so I am not a scofflaw. Lots of fun to play with. I am amazed the mechanics are so sound still. I believe this one is from the 50's. It has the patent # on it.
The blade tip was grinded down, possibly bent, and sharpened poorly. I will probably rebevel the whole thing. I gotta have dem sharp.
I feel lucky to have found it.
