The opening system of this traditional automatic knife goes back to a patent from 1897.

Very good review indeed, thanks.

I've seen some really nice Springers (flick-knives) from Germany in stag, some of these were surprisingly old- between the two world wars or even before WW1. I think the mechanism, although rather heavy is at least a safe one and has clearly stood the test of time. Be interesting to know if Hubertus make springer models smaller than this one?

Yes, they do make smaller ones. There are models with 72 mm and 62 mm blade length. The 62 mm ones are known as "Lilliput Springer". I have no idea though where you can get them outside of Germany.

Dankeschön Stefan!

Once again a very nice review of a good ol' german knife! :)
You made me interessted in Hubertus in general - the whole company I hadn´t so much on the radar - being honest!

The company is well-known among hunters (I'm not a hunter though) since most of their knives are traditional hunting knives.

Bravo Stefan! Another terrific review! If I owned a cutlery company I would get you to make videos for everything because every time you review a knife it makes me want to buy one. Im a historian by training and the history lessons you provide with your reviews just make me all the more interested. Thanks for all the work that you clearly put into your reviews! I always skim this section to see if you have posted anything new and it is always a treat.

Thank you for your very kind words, Brian! I'm glad you enjoy my videos. There's probably an easier way to follow my uploads on YouTube. You could set up a YouTube account and subscribe to my channel, this way you would be notified about each new video. ;-)

Outstanding review, Sir. I live in Indiana and automatic knives were made legal here as of July 1, 2013. I was doing my homework to find a decent sheeple friendly knife and saw your review. I've got an Hubertus Krupp 100th anniversary knife on my desk as I type this! Thank you.
