Anyone know any that tanto folders with a traditional, not angular american tanto blade? I havent seen any. thanks

I'm not real familiar with Katz knives, but I think they may have a few traditional tanto blades. You could look through Seki Cut knives, also. They are a marketing site by different Japanese manufacturers.

No, that type of blade is what i dont want - I am looking for a traditional, soft curve point, not angular. Bob lum makes custom folder, but i dont know any production pieces like it.

Check out Seki's folding tanto. http://www.seki-cut.com/

The Spyderco Lum Tanto has the Americanized angles too. He's talking one smooth edge.

The only folder I know of is the CRKT Lightfoot. I hear it's a damn good knife for a CRKT too.

Are you looking for folders that have shapes similar to Japanese swords, or to actual Japanese tantos? If its the former, then you may have to go custom. But if it's the latter, you're looking for something that resembles a full-height convex ground trailing point blade. In either case, the shapes involved are pretty difficult to do consistently, with high-quality results, so that may explain the dearth...

I've seen some knives that come close in the custom arena, but those were generally hollow or flat ground, so they're not really traditional in shape. If you find something, please post it here... I'd have a great interest in it as well.

Back on topic, have you seen the CRKT Hissatsu? It's relatively traditional in shape, with a historical profile (even though it isn't traditionally ground in cross section), and it's apparently coming out in folder form soon.

Wow. A folding Hissatsu should eliminate the reasons I don't own the fixed version. I'll be on the lookout for that one.

Where did you hear that? Now you have got me all excited!

I looked at seki, Dont know how i missed the folding katana. May be the only option available. Blade shape looks good, not thrilled about the scale options..
Type of grind doesnt matter to me.
I almost bought the lightfoot, but the point was too "blunt" ie no real point.

I heard it over on Bugei's forum. James Williams (Hissatsu designer and Bugei principal) was talkin about it. Sounds interesting, at the very least.
