Now and then, something catches your eye and attention while your logical mind says, “Keep moving, because that’s just silly.”
But this unique trapper put out by Rough Rider (when, I couldn’t say) caught enough of my attention to guide my hand to my wallet.
I’ve had it for a few years now, and it still occasionally finds its way into my pocket.
I have to say, it’s quite hefty for its size, so weight can’t be a factor if it’s with you.
And what’s more, the way it’s made coddles my left-handed manner. On that, I do have a couple left-handed knives. That’s clever marketing. You know who you are, Boker and Spyderco.
Anyone in here have any other examples of something quite traditional but done in a unique manner? Let’s see ‘em!

I remember that Rough Rider series. I looked around online for a few minutes, and found out RR called them "Double Take" knives. I found 3 different patterns: trapper, muskrat, and canoe. I think they were each available with smooth tobacco bone covers like yours (thus also part of the Outdoorsman Series) or with yellow synthetic covers. I'm sure I seriously looked at the canoe model about 10 years ago, but never bought one. Here's a link to a brief discussion of the knives:

I was attracted to this knife, also a Rough Rider. I don’t recall seeing this exact configuration from any other manufacturers. (Possibly a Swell Center Moose inspired design?) Maybe someone can correct me, if I’m wrong, but I believe that it came from the imagination of someone in the RR design crew. It’s a solid, well constructed knife, but the pull on that little blade is about an eleven. Lance IMG_8384.jpeg

A few years ago , while at the Badger Blade show , I asked a guy if he had any Taylors Eye Witness knives and he pulled this one out and said that it was most likely broken . But I knew different .

It is a knife designed to be used by coal miners to clean off coal conveyor belts .
