Does anyone carry an actual antique instead of a traditional, you can get one in good condition for good prices and I understand if a traditional is your primary carry knife because an antique may not perform as well but if you carry one to compliment another knife, has anybody considered carrying an antique pocket knife?

Yes I carry this one

In my opinion, antique and traditional can mean the same thing. Lots of us carry vintage knives as well as new knives made after traditional patterns.

Define 'antique'. Over 100 years old? Lots of folks carry knives that old. I'm quite sure there are several folks who frequent this forum who probably carry knives that were not antiques when they acquired them, but may be now ;)
Check out the Old Knives thread, and a quick search for 'antique' in the thread titles will yield some great results.

Heck, some of the knife knuts on this forum are antiques themselves.

Hey! I resemble that remark! ;)
I'm an old guy that likes the newer traditional knives. I might carry an antique knife if it held some sentimental value, but I really don't have any of those.

Always a pleasure to see that one Robin

:D

MOST of my knives are older than I am, and I very much enjoy carrying and using old knives. Heck, my bread knife is nearly 100 years old! :D

The antiques are what the modern traditonals are based on - and still to this day the antiques will give most knives a run for their money - they knew how to make knives then - boy did they what - GEC are now at the Stellar point of replicating and ( may I say it ) are matching the quality of Cutler Mastership in a lot of cases.

I do carry an antique at times and absolutely love that fact that I do.

here is one- a gift from a great guy.....

and another....
My wife bought a tin full of old knives....now there were some real old "junkers" and some absolute stunners - but even the junkers are so precious- that lovely lady knew nothing and really thought of me when buying them, this one is a Humphries Radiant, I spent a bit of time with Mineral and a rag only on this knife, it wouldnt open or close - when I finished - this thing snaps like a hungry Turtle and Oh man does it sharpen to a Scalpel - lovely lovely old Knife......

As I am writing this , I have a 1939 - 1945 Pal Blade Co. Easy Open in my pocket. I also sometimes carry my old Russell ans SEO & S . Neither is my EDC , but they do get carried.
Nice knives everyone.

I just got this, but it is quickly becoming one of my favorites! It is a Joseph Rodgers and sons from the turn of the century.

I'm a "vintage antique", according to my neice.

I have some knives I bought new, back in the 1980's I suppose they are "antiques" now. Nothing fancy or expensive, just Old Timers and Uncle Henrys, and a couple inexpensive mariners with a marlin spike.
