I'm new here. I've been eyeballing all the posts and stories and just couldn't resist signing up.
My question is if you have dedicated outdoors traditional slipjoints, or do you just add larger tools to what you usually carry? (for camping, hunting, hiking etc) My edc is a case peanut (a result of these forums :D) and i usually just add a fixed blade and saw to that. Thanks!

For outdoor woods or camping, my pocket stuff does not change. I will add a tool or two though. I'll add a small sheath knife, and a larger flashlight like the LED AA minimag light to augment my little single AAA pocket light. There's always a folding saw in my daypack.

What's surprising though , is how my edc pocket knife still does most of the cutting.

Carl.

That sounds like you're well prepared to me. Most of your daily work can be done with your folder and any bigger or rougher cutting can be easily accommodated with your saw or fixed blade.
I've gotten by for many years with such a setup (or less).

Welcome to the forum.

When I go into the woods (hunting or scouting) I carry a Buck 110 on my belt and my peanut in my pocket. That seems to be all I need as far as cutting tools go.

I have a dogleg jack in my pocket and a small fixed blade on my belt as well as a FT tomahawk and a saw in my pack.

thanks for the replies guys. i find that with all the multitools, saks, heavy survival knives and such, a pocket knife accompanied by a few other simple tools does just fine for most things

I just add a small axe made by Utica that I've had for many years. It is not much bigger or heaver than a mid-sized fix blade but I find with that an my pocket knife I can do all that needs done.

I vary the slip joint type knife. It is hard for me not to have my SAK with me. It goes just about everywhere I go. So, I might add another slip joint out in the woods. Often it is a full sized trapper (old Remington or Case). Like you, from there, I add a fixed blade belt knife or my Condor Golok machete. I take a saw when I car camp. Although the SOG Revolver hunter would be quite appealing as a belt knife and still keep the machete. It is quite light and has a very aggressive saw and an okay plain edged blade.
