:( Would really like to hear the backstory on this one

Link to eBay removed

Just a heads-up - a Mod might slap you on the wrist or give you a warning for posting that link. It happened to me when I first joined here.

Was wondering about that, but saw someone post an eBay link in a thread about fakes, so thought it was OK.

Well , I always did wonder where all those knives they used in those Cold Steel proof tests videos ended up ! ;)

I think this actually was an attempt at adding serrations . Thought it was chipped out till I looked closer because of your post .

Could be an attempt to hide major chips by turning them into serrations...

Those are some DEEP serrations! Not San Mai thankfully. At least the OP didn't try and pass it off as one of a kind Special Projects or such. Now watch somebody buy it ha ha.

Cold Steel used to put out a lot of folders with that kind of "combo -edge" half serrated blade . So did Spyderco , Kai etc.

I never understood it, I prefer one or the other depending on the situation but OP must like it.
I think Gerber ruined the Mark II when they did that.

If the Mark II had serrations like that, the blade would snap just breathing on it

Not as bad but over the top for me, well any serrations on one is too much for me, I like the simplicity of the original.
