Thought I would ask here before I made a decision right now I am wearing Garmont Alias shoes and it looks like there discontinued like them because they were cheap and ventilated and because of the soles great for climbing. Gonna have to decide on a new pair soon what do you guys recommend ? Willing to spend at least 150 on a new pair they don't have to be ventilated seeing that winter is coming I will be wearing them at work riding a bike and of course in the woods . Thanks guys stock pic of what I am wearing now. http://www.extremeoutfitters.us/images/view.aspx?productId=1798

Shoe selection is very individualized. Whether you over-pronate, under-pronate, or are neutral determines if you need extra support, extra cushioning, or just a little of each. I am an under-pronator (supinator), so I require extra cushioning. I've had good luck with Asics, Saucony, and La Sportiva. If you want to try something minimalist, New Balance and Merrell make some good stuff.

Went ahead and ordered a pair of Merrell Mix Masters don't want to have to wear my boots in the heat my Garmonts aren't gonna last too much longer.

Merrell does make some nice shoes. I have 2 pair and I love them. They are comfortable, are true to size, and have Vibram soles.

I like my Merrell's but I've had one pair that didn't last as long as I thought they should. I have a couple of pair by The North Face and really like them as well.

I've loved the longevity I get from New Balance, the pair of north face I have now are okay, a bit too much insulation for my feet, but good shoes so far.

I made this, seems tailored just for you...

I went through the same thing, the upper separated from the sole about 8 months in. I called Merrell and they replaced them outright & paid shipping both ways too. A week later the new pair came in, and they indicated the original pair were defective. The new ones are still holing well 2.5 years later.

I am a city mailman- I walk for 7 hours a day every day but Sunday. I wear Merrell's.
