Trailmaster

Hi gents,gotta a question about the trailmaster,my buddy wants one,he loves cold steel knives and he wants for a survival knife he is stuck on this blade,he is real good with cleaning game etc with a big knife.
My question is should he get a trailmaster 2nd with the black coating without warranty or the original one,will the original rust that quickly,its not going to be used in water strictly wilderness chopping ,cutting,for shelter,and if need be clean game.Ive recieved cold steels new mag and the list price for the 2nd is 129$ and ive found the original for 129$ also,please help guys,once again thanks a bunch.Yours in blades.RYAN

The original finish will discolor a little with use, and it will rust if not taken care of. However, in California weather I wouldn't worry about it much unless your friend will be around saltwater. I have never had any difficulty keeping mine rust free.
