In areas where balisongs are illegal, does that include balisongs with unsharpened trainer blades?

Well I suppose it would depend on how the law is written, but in my opinion a true trainer, such as the one Benchmade sells, is not a real knife. It has no edge, no point, can't be sharpened and is useless as a weapon except as blunt instrument. I therefore think its no more an illegal weapon then one of those novelty switchblade combs is an illegal switchblade. However, I am not going to be the one making the judgment call as to arrest or prosecution, so your mileage may vary.

Best regards,

Argyll

can't be sharpened?
how'd they do that?

Have you ever seen a Benchmade or Spyderco trainer? What I mean is that its untempered metal with nothing approximating a cutting edge. Sure I suppose you could use a belt grinder or files to make some kind of edge, but as sold its nowhere near thin enough to be sharpend with just a stone.

Best regards,

Argyll

Brutus,

I bought a trainer off ebay last year, I believe it was taken by customs. A friend of mine also got his trainers taken, but was able to aquire them back by writting them a letter.

This is in Canada.
