Trainer Ballisong Legal?

It's impossible to answer your question without knowing the country (and state if in the USA) you live in. Laws vary from country to country and state to state.

And welcome to Bladeforums :).

I would guess that since it has no edge or pointy tip.......and you cant really hurt anyone with it......you'd be ok.

If "ballisongs" are illegal then I'd suspect a trainer ballisongs could still cause you issues as its still a ballisong. If "butterfly knives" is what the law states on the other hand you could argue that the trainer isn't a knife as it's neither pointy nor sharp.

Regardless, without knowing the local PD I wouldn't carry it. Just takes one grumpy cop to cause you a whole mess of trouble.

Hello everybody , I'm pretty new to this whole scene , and I need help. So recently I became a nut for those butterfly knives , but since they are illegal I chose a trainer one.
Here is a picture of the trainer I'll buy.

So my point is (pun intended) , is a trainer one legal , since it is nor sharp nor it has an sharp point?
Thanks in advance.

^ Welcome to BladeForums, O! I used to be one of those bali nut's! ;) I came down with "Bali Fever" a few years ago. I had spent quite a bit of time passing through the Port of Bantangas, & on my trips over to Mindoro Island, back when I lived in the Philippines...that's where I came down with this fever.

In regards to your question: I honestly don't know the laws pertaining to Montenegro. Here is SoCal, it's illegal to carry a balisong. It's safe to carry a bali-comb, but not sure about a trainer? That's a good question!

You may already be aware of this: there is another forum, that is much more geared to balisong knives. There are some very knowledgeable, super nice guys over there, who are always more than happy to help a newbie along. Just make sure you post an introduction, after you join. Here is an awesome flipping video that was posted, by a few of their awesomely talented member's with their Arc Angels: v

Can you please share with us, what your knife laws are like in Montenegro, & in the Baltic states in general?

Best of luck!

Logic dictates that if an unsharpened knife shaped object is illegal simply because its shaped like a butterfly knife but has no edge and an aluminium blade....then all single edge knives should equally be illegal as they are just double edge blades that have not been sharpened yet...

By the same token, any under 3 inch blade should also be illegal because it simply has not had a 10 inch blade extension welded to it yet....

All folding knives should be illegal for being gravity knives because they simply have not had the detent or lock bar cut out yet....

Heck every chunk of scrap metal of any kind should be illegal because of its potential to be turned into something that too closely resembles a prohibited product....

yes, it would be nuts....but sadly, the laws and the law makers have never had a very good reputation of doing the smart thing, or things that make sense.....

/sigh

I've looked it up and turns out that the actual ballisong is legal in my country ! Guess I'll have no issues whatsoever then with the trainer one . :p

Just wanted to write I don't believe balisong are illegal in Montenegro. Maybe all types of balis are legal - trainers and sharp ones too.
