Aloha ALL,

I just got an email this morning from an accomplished MA practitioner who is involved in Escrima/JKD/Kali IIRC,and he "wondered" if there was any way Boker would make a Trainer SF...

Recently, the legendary Mercop asked if a Trainer version of the SubClaw would be possible, to help him in his tactical classes...

Again, recently, a Sheriff in CO had seen my "home made" Blue Trainers and thought they were in the works Production-wise and got all excited. He has not been the only one to "mistake" my Trainers as something going into production, nor has he been the only one to think an "SFT", (Subcom Folder Trainer) as well as a Trance Trainer, would be excellent ideas.

Trainers as everyone knows, allows full speed, "real time" training, or even just helping a knife newbie to gain confidence in handling a knife safely. If at some point in your MBC, you do not go "real time", it ain't gonna happen, God forbid, should you need to use your knife to defend yourself, or your loved ones. Same goes for the knife newbie...so long as there is an edge on it, they will remain apprehensive about it, no matter how "comfortable" they may seem to be.

I say again, we need Trainers please. Even a Combo Pack would be awesome...a Live SF, SC, WF or Trance, combined with a Trainer would be great. The "true" newbie could practice safe knife handling and then "graduate" to their live blade later. The MBC'er can also benefit in the way the knife newbie would, and then can have a safe Trainer to practice "real time", and also have a live blade to practice live cutting...

Trainers please!

Yes, the SFT color would have to stand out...

C'mon guys...Boker...please think about it getting the SFT Combo Packs made, or even just Trainers would be great.

What say everyone else?

Mahalo and God bless:cool:

If there is a demand for Trainers, then full speed ahead! Do some leg-work Boker---please.

Chad, i completely agree. There is an absolute must for SF or Trance trainer. I carry this knives with me all the time and it would be logical for me that if i train i have to practice with SF or Trance trainer. And i'm sure many people feel the same. To be honest, i'm surprised that Boker hasn't made SFT yet. Boker, make CLB trainers already!!! And a combo pack sounds awesome!

Legendary, thanks Chad, but only in my own mind:) IMHO the Subclaw is the knife for people who don't want to / can't because of workplace policy or law carry a bigger knife. I would very much like to develop a course around it. Like I said in my article it is the closest thing you can get to a folding La Griffe and in a frame lock no less. It is very hard to stab on the defense and ripping/clawing in intuitive. Please Boker, don't top halfway with this. We need trainers....yesterday.

Okay everyone, I want to try something here.
What I would like is for everyone who wants a trainer/trainer set to write me
at my work email. If you have a training group/school that would be interested, have each member email me seperately.
I have a time limit for this. I will only collect the emails that come in through
9 am Tuesday 29JAN08. After that, the SHOT Show preperations are in full swing, and I cannot talk to who I need to.

So if you want this, or if your group wants this, give me some backup, and email me, so I can show there is a true desire for this. One email per person only, please.
My addy at work is: repair@bokerusa.com

Now get to work...
Terry

Terry, let me know, how many mails you collected.
Maybe there is another option instead of simply "dulling" the blade... but as you stated, we can show the damand for this only, when getting some response to it!

I mailed my vote but I think this forum isn't a merit for customer demand. I mean, how many users frequently visit this forum. A lot less than there are Trances or SF sold. This is probably max. 3% of all customers. And if that at all. I am afraid trainers won't become a reality based only on this sub-forum visit or more correctly lack of it if you know what I mean. And they should. Trance and SF (mainly trance for me) are great knifes, rightly considered a self defense tools and as such they should have trainers. Folders are different from big fixed blade shape knifes in which most of rubber and wood trainers come in and practicing deploying such a knife is as important skill as is knowing basic knife fighting skills. What good does it do if you know tons of different angles etc if you won't be able to deploy your knife fast enough under pressure just because you didn't had the opportunity to practice. This is just one of the reasons why this should become a reality.Actually as I write this I almost get the feeling its Böker responsibility to give us such a tool. If we are loyal customers who use/carry Böker products for self-defense than few mails or lack of it really shouldn't be a merit for something that is simply a must. And in the end, steel doesn't have to be "high quality" like aus-8 so costs should be considerably lower than that of true knife (it's not like I will be cutting anything with it and worry about edge retention). My two cents :)

Tobias,
Will do...

Come on everyone, we need to show how much interest there is in this to bring it up.
If you want this, get as many people as you can to write an email.
Thanks, Terry

Hoping the email was received. And that the trainers are being made.

I'm hoping so too. Unfortunately, that said, the sticky at the top of this sub-forum has so far gotten 36 views, and the c/p I posted in the Spyderco forum got 75 views, and once we take into account the number of people who would actually go and send an email, I'm not too optimistic.:(
