Trainers hard to come by- alternatives?

I put in an order with Emerson a few months ago for a trainer folder, and unfortunately they were out of stock.

I spoke with someone at Emerson and was told the production run would be done in about 6 weeks or so.

I've been using fixed trainers that closely approximate my carry knives with my FMA group, and even been using my delica and endura trainers as well, but I'd really like to train with drones of my favorite knives. Also, there is an ECQ course coming up I'd like to use one of these knives in.

So, since I DO NOT want to grind down a good live blade, what do you think about finding a guy who makes knives to just make a training blade to fit one of my folders? The blade doesn't have to have super duper heat treatment, and obviously doesn't need to be sharp- it only has to be close in shape and weight, and the only precision work will be in making sure it operates and locks properly. Doesn't even have to look pretty.

Any recommendations?

FYI- I have the Emerson trainers on order anyway, so this won't cost them a dime. I just want something NOW. Hell, if they would send me a ground down blade that didn't pass QC as long as it fit, I'd be happy. But, I don't think they do that. :( Which brings me to the idea of...

Anyone have a chipped up, tip broken, dull ass CQC7, commander, or karambit blade sitting around they don't need? :D

I have had one of the kerambit trainers but it just never got used so I moved it on to a better home. I do quite fancie a CQC-12
trainer though. If you have a look on e-bay they do come up from time to time and you could post in the "want to buy" section here.

I personally use fixed blade traners for actual contact sparing and live blades for deploy drils and some light sparing, so I have been
managing just fine with the same gear you have. I know that sometimes you just have to have what you want though. :p

You don't need a trainer, just tape the edges of your Kbit and train w/ the realy thing. Trainer will always feel different than the real blade you carry.

PS - You save $ so that you can buy another kbit!!! Imagine having 2 kbits in hand :D

Good luck

Not a good option if you're practicing with a partner.
The point will stab your partner, and the edge might cut through the tape with even medium contact.
