if some one wanted to learn to sharpen shears and clippers what would you recomend for training and equipment?

I've taken some training and have been paid to sharpen I would recommend first obtaining a pair of practice salon shears from someone like scissor mall. Explain what you want them for and they should have some they can send you for less then thirty dollars. Then look at the you tube for people that sharpen them by hand. Get some hair fall at Sallies and notice how it cuts. Figure to pay $500 and up and travel expenses; no shear sharpener wants competion. Learn to tell it it cuts or it pushes hair. Try and duplicate people on the you tube. Essentially what you are doing is you raise a bur and then cut off the bur or in some way deburr and polish. If you take lessons send your practice shears to the instructor and then see how they cut. Do they cut or push after the expert has sharpened? I find the Proxxon mini belt sander better then the flathone for free handing because you can see what you are doing. If you use jigs or clamps the shies the limit for flathone devices sold by entrepreneurs who generally give you lessons along with a lot of ..... philosophies. Good luck.
