Hi. I am buying some training blades again for both drill work and sparring. Just curious what people use out there.

The most well known blades seem to be Edges2, Spyderco, Benchmade, and Emerson.

Other popular ones I have seen are the Boker Applegate Trainers, ASP Red / Blue plastic resin knives, Sharkee, Keen Edge Knife Works, and the Tops / Strider Military resin plastic trainer knife promoted by Steve Tarani.

What does everybody else use? I remember one company used to sell these white ones made of resin that looked like they were carved from soap. They made their version of the Cold Steel fist knife, which was interesting for self defense deployment. Anybody know the web link for that or where I can source it on the web?

Looking forward to your feedback.

edges2 for my money

I like aluminum trainers.

I own a couple of gatorbacks, a couple of small drop points (folder size) and a couple of Tarani karambit trainers.

I'm very happy with them.

Bear, I think you might be refering to Shomer-Tec? Sounds right? (Sorry no info on 'em) Shomer-Tec made Spyderco Civie trainers as well. The trainers were a copy of the blade, but in a non folding format.

hope this helps

Bill
