Actually, I just wanted to show off a picture of my Hakama!!!
Seriously.... about two months ago, I began training in Iaijutsu, and have been enjoying it immensely! This past weekend, I had the true privilege of training in an all day semimar with my Iai organization's Master, Masayuki Shimabukuro from Japan, and Sensei Carl Long, the US based Master under Shima Sensei.
The similarities between the sword and Tomahawk are too many to list. Since the seminar yesterday, I have been wielding a Tomahawk around the office using the same movement technique and found so many of the blocks and strikes to feel identical...and more importantly, functional and NATURAL.
Here I am with Shima Sensei to the left and Sensei Long to the right.
These men were profound teachers and totally FUN to work with...I came away feeling enriched, as well as enlightened in the art of Iai, which I will undoubtedly apply to technical work with a Hawk!!
BTW...don't razz me about my Hakama, even if I haven't taken it off since yesterday!!!
