I'm looking to buy some good training gloves and am having a hard time finding some. I want them to be half fingered/ fingerless and offer some protection on the back of the hand. They also so need to be supple enough so I can use them for stick and knife work, empty hand stuff joint locks etc

Any recommendation? Thanks in advance.

Steve

How hard are you going to go at it?

Some suggestions:
Lacrosse gloves
Ice Hockey gloves
Roller Hockey gloves
JKD/Enter The Dragon type gloves
Harbinger/Century type wrist wrap bag gloves
UFC type competition gloves
Baseball Batting gloves for full contact (but only if you're Top Dog)

Thanks Samuel for the suggestions, some like the bag gloves I have tried. Many of the bag gloves have reinforced palms and not really suitable without some surgery and that wrecks the gloves. The cobra gloves( Bruce Lee type) I find doesn't give me the dexterity I m after. I'll check out the others u suggested. I do have a ufc type glove but the only type I cold track down when living in the UK didn't have any thumb protection pretty good glove but not so hot for stick

thanks again for the suggestions

K, DOH, how could I forget those types of gloves!

Steve, are you talking about that cylindrical "bar" that runs horizontally across the palm (Harbinger type)? If so, that feature bothered me as well. I took a delicate blade, carefully cut the stitching, and removed the bars. The gloves have held up well since the modification. Good luck!

For regular training (not stick sparring), you don't need more than paintball 1/2 finger gloves. Decent protection for the back of the hand at a reasonable price - can be found at a lot of places such as Wal-Mart and Sports Authority.

Thank you guys for ur suggestions the combat gloves from Blackhawk really seem to fit the bill very cool

Again thanks for ur help everyone
