Training Hike for Son of Beanbag

Here are some unedited shots from a hike I did with Son O' to get him ready for his big camping trip in Maine. He's been training with a fully weighted backpack and so have I. He'll be sea kayaking down east and backpacking Baxter State Park, with an ascent of Katahdin.

I took off work Tuesday before the heat wave hit and we did approx. 7 tough miles in about 6 hrs. of hiking in Harriman.

................... ...was this "super shelter." You could probably fit 10 people in there easy.

I need to go camping.

I just did a 2 day canoe trip with a group of young scouts, but it is less fun when you are keeping track of 10 kids with only 2 adults!

I am so envious right now. That looks like an absolutely awesome place to go hiking/camping/swimming/fishing/kayaking.

I'm lucky to have a son that likes to get out.

Son O' has been posting a lot of our trip photos on Facebook lately, and they now cover years of outdoor adventures. If someone didn't know him better, they'd figure he lived smack dab in the middle of the mountains.

I wish we did.
