The BladeForums.com 2024 Traditional Knife is available! Price is $250 ea (shipped within CONUS).

------------------I am considering the production of several very knifelike (Knifequins?) training aids.
They would have 5/16" thick aluminum blades with radiused edges, a blunt tip, and composite handles exactly like the regular Mad Dogs, as well as complete Kydex sheath setups. To wit, the Panther trainer would come with a Dundee Rig, the ATAK trainer would come with an ATAK sheath, etc.
Other sheaths would be available as well.
The trainers would balance and feel to within 3% of the real knives, and make for very realistic training tools.
They would draw from sheath the same, balance/feel the same, just not cut/stab the same.
To get an idea of what a potential 3% difference would be, hold 97 pennies in one hand, and 100 pennies in the other.
Feel the difference?
They would go for about $100.00 each, with Kydex sheath included.
Naturally, there are less expensive alternatives offered by others that make a reasonably good product, most notably Bob Berghi (sp?).
I don't want to start making them if they are deemed to be too expensive, and I can't afford to make them for less.
The question is this:
Does the ultra realism of the proposed Mad Dog trainers justify their cost and added production effort from me?
