I know quite a few on this forum have asked about tomahawk instruction so I thought I would put in this 'shameless plug' for a really good training opportunity 12-13 July 07. It will be at the International Swordfighting and Martial Arts Convention (ISMAC) held in Detroit this year. You can find information on this at
http://artofcombat.org/public/thespis/convention/classes.html
My good friend and Expert Knife Instructor Steve Huff will be presenting a block of instruction titled The Fighting Arts of The Early Frontier-Advanced Tomahawk & Longknife along with Basic Bowie knife. He is also involved with John Lennox and Gareth Thomas in presenting a boarding action class that also has some tomahawk & axe training with it. You can find Steve's bio and classes specifics under the class schedule at the site I just mentioned. ISMAC has been a very successful annual event for the past 8 years. This will be the first time there will be a lot of 18th/19th century weapons as compared to the Rapier & Medieval boys. Also lots of boxing, cudgel, and staff work. I've supported this event each year because it exposes me to a variety of people involved in the martial arts outside my areas of interest. I can't recommend this enough. Check it out.
Best
Dwight
BTW- I'll be teaching an advance Bowie knife class along with some Falcata, Gladius, and staff work.
