About 2 months ago I ordered some hand grips from Iron Mind. They have a website :
http://www.ironmind.com/main/catalog/catalog6.html
Its down now, hopefully it will be up in a few days. You can reach them at (530) 265-6725.
These are identical in function to the cheap handgrips that are everywhere and they are just used to increase your "crushing" strength. The handles are steel, checkered for a secure grip. The springs are very large and obviously very stiff. There are five models to choose from in terms of resistance. The lowest one is much, much harder than the normal store bought ones.
The biggest downside is that when you first start using them, unless your hands are very tough, the checkering will rip into your flesh quite nicely. However after 2 months this does not bother me much anymore. And as a side effect many knife handles which used to bother me, don't anymore. I have seen an obvious increase in my grip strength in the last couple of months and one other thing that is very nice. My wrist is now much more resistant to impacts.
They are $19 each and are built to last. If you are a serious heavy knife chopper (hey - this is a khukuri forum) you might want to look into these.
