Trance ball-detent issue

Hello, first time posting on this subforum =).

Anyway, the problem is with a much loved and much used CLB Trance droppoint. The framelock ball-detent has worn down to a flat and it has made the knife really (no, not really bad, but enough to annoy me) tight to open. Even disassembling, cleaning, lubing, washing, tightening/loosening pivot screw etc. doesn't work. Using the flipper is not possible. So, the ball bearing has to go. How would I change the ball and what size bearing is it? Or, is there some sort of warranty or is this just normal wear and tear? The knife itself is about 6 months old.

Thanks in advance

I'm kind of a diy guy. so I would pop out the detent ball, lay it on somthing flat and roll it around and find the flat spot and take some scotch tape and pick it up, reposition over the hole and tap it back in. Use one of the washers as a depth guage. (when you can run something flat over the washer and not feel the ball, it's in deep enough.)

As Lycosa said, Boker will take care of you. Unless you've somehow managed to open and close the knife several thousand times in the past 6 months, that isn't normal wear and tear. :D Could be that the detent ball was soft or not positioned just right, or that something else is "off" in the lock that's causing undue wear on it. Anyhow, contact them and let them know what's happening.

Henri, that does not sound normal to me.
I would send it in to boker Germany as you live in Finland?

Wait for Tobias to take care of you. I have his contactinfo if needed just pm if necessary.
;)

Maarten is right, contact Boker Germany.
http://www.boker.de/index.php?c=1012
is their contact info.
Although I doubt it will be Tobias, they will take care of you.
Thanks, Terry

Aloha h3n4,
Terry is correct in that Maarten is right.:D That does NOT sound normal at all, but no worries...Boker backs up their knives and will resolve any flukes without fail. One of the best in the industry IMHO...

Do keep us posted and mahalo!
God bless!

Cool, thanks for the replies!

I emailed the retailer (from Germany), we'll work out something. Too bad the knife has to be sent to Germany, but if I get it fixed, it's ok.

@Daywalker: The Trance DP is one heck of a knife! The argument of cutting like a light saber really does apply on this knife =). Though, I liked a thinner edge. With an addition of a low-rider pocket clip this would be something special ;). Really like this one, so I'd want to get it fixed.
