Trance blade centering?

Hey guys, just a quick question about your experience with the Trance...

I've noticed that when closed, the blade on my Trance is very close to the grippy side of the frame. Is this normal? I haven't noticed it wearing the finish or making scraping sounds when opening/closing, but it's definitely contacting the liner.

Not a big deal, just curious, thanks in advance

The blade on your Trance should be more or less dead center. It sounds like either your pivot screw is a wee bit loose or one of your washers (on the grip side most likely) is deformed or thinner than it should be. Either case could allow the lock to push the blade toward the grip side when closed. Try snugging the pivot screw down till the blade starts to get a little hard to open and close, then back off a tiny bit at a time until it swings out easily (but with no lateral play). See if the blade is now centered. If that doesn't do it, it could be a bad washer (at least that's the only other thing I can think of). If you aren't comfortable working on your own knives, contact Boker customer service and see if they can help you out.

Thanks for the tip - some adjustment back and forth corrected the centering issue, but it's a little stiff now...

I'm gonna try a little olive oil on the pivot.

A little oil on the pivot is a good idea (I like mineral oil myself). It'll keep things smoothed up until the washers wear in and resettle. After a short time you should notice that the mechanism will smooth out and won't require further lubrication.

Problem solved, thanks for the help

I don't believe there's any rating system, other than the buy and sell feedback, but don't sweat it. I appreciate the thought, and I'm always glad to help when I can.

My Trance was centered but after some hard use the blade's definitely towards the FRN side.
