I really like the Trance, just the right handle size for my hand and the wide blade is the perfect size (and shape) for my needs. I wished for an upgrade in the blade steel. Well, I took matters into my own hands: Got some S30V (expensive stuff), milled it down to the proper thickness(from 1/8" stock), ground the profile, rough fit it, sent it off to the hardners. This ends "Series I" Stand by for Series II.
BLADE MILLED AND ROUGH FITTED.

BLADE RETURNED FROM HARDNERS, IT WAS CRYO'D AS WELL.

Awsome, thanks for sharing. Do you know what RC they brought the blade to? Any thoughts on geometry for the cutting edge? I'll look forward to the next set of photos.

Thank you all!
I work slowly (time factor),so it may be a while before I finish.

Vivi,
Of course it is a flat grind and the cutting edge area is down to .015". The knife will be a SLICER. Hardness = they say 95 - 98??

I will report again, later.

Gull Wing,

How is the lock up on this knife? Its marketed as a Frame Lock but from your pictures, it looks more like a liner lock.
