I know you've all heard this before these are awesome blades for the price. Only thing I've done to this one is a bronze washer on one side. For some reason the bronze washers on both sides were too thick. Anyhow it's very smooth with a solid lock up now. Has anyone else experienced this?

congrats cu2.....solid trio you got there

the wood scale looks nice. Think I might have to try one of those. I'm thinking carbon fiber would be sharp.:)

Tempting, tempting. I like the original Trance so much, I got over my initial reservations about the strange point configuration. These knives just work sooo well. Smooth deployment, great edge sharpens up nicely, thin blade takes a convex edge easily, point gets right into small tasks. I can see the drop point is just as handy.

hi Esav, the Drop Point (with slightly more blade "mass") is somewhat easier to open w/the flipper (meaning less of a wrist snap) vs. the original clip point;
I'm amazed by the consistent operation of the framelocks on these CLB Bokersplus's.... rock solid lockups....esp. at their "affordable" pricepoints

Actually, I've never been able to open mine with the flipper. It came a little tight and I like it like that. Besides, the thumbstud *snaps* it open so fast, you'd think it was an AO.

Every version of every Boker/Daywalker has been a delight. In some ways, the Trance is still my favorite, but the M-Type is great, and I'm tempted to carry them both. :)

cu2, I put bronze washers in all my Boker/CLB folders, and they do require backing out just a tad on the pivot screw. The bronzes don't have any give to them like the originals, so you can't snug down the pivot screw quite as much. I use a little blue Loctite on the pivot screws to help hold them, and I haven't had one loosen up yet. If your Trance is too tight even with the screw fairly loose, maybe you could rub the sides of the washers (or at least one of them) on some fine grit sandpaper and then polish them up until they fit better. Just do a little at a time!

Thanks Scott. I ended up doing like you said. I took some fine sandpaper and a pencil with an eraser on one end. Using the eraser to push down and used a circular motion until I took several tenths of a millimeter off both washers and slightly polished with compound. I then heated the washers to around 400° and applied a drop of Militec. Oh so smooth now. But still need to use a little wrist to flip it open.I agree fully with everyone these are very well made and designed .
The Kershaw is pretty cool without any wrist movement just a flick of the index finger, snap!:)
Maybe you have some experience with this or anyone else out there please chime in. I noticed that the bronze washers are available in different thicknesses .05 .10 .15 .20. So has anyone ever tried stacking two or maybe three or four washers on each side. Maybe someone has already tried this out and found it makes no difference at all. If so please share your results. Mark. PS yes I also used Loctite. I noticed everything from the factory was also originally Loctite applied.

don't have the original version . the drop point isn't that hard to flip open. I agree. about the the blade . wish there was an aftermarket thumb stud made out of tungsten, this would add more weight to the leading edge of the blade and probably make it much easier to flip. The Kershaw has a very heavy blade and I believe this makes it much easier to flip . I find myself wanting to carry Boker because I hardly notice it clipped to my pocket.

hi cu2, yeah the relatively "lightweight" blade on the Trance(s) make them somewhat more difficult to flip open unless I use some wrist-snap action....
I have a Groove /Tanto Groove that flip open "like butter" ;) and I also appreciate their excellent framelocks....some of the sturdiest framelocks in my production folder collection ;)
I also tend to edc folders that weigh less though, esp. in "office settings" in which I carry loose in pocket for discretion....so if the Trance was made heavier for the sake of easier "flipping" I probably would carry it much less....
Now the small Kershaw NRG is my lightest folder that flips open w/ minimal effort.... I am quite impressed by Lee Williams' design...
I usually open my Trance using the thumbstud method though, I guess it feels more "natural" to me for this folder ;)

Hey jaislandboy, one thing the NRG does not have that both the Trance and Groove have in common are the flipper but more importantly fingerguard. When using a folding knife. I like the feeling that no matter what happens the blade won't close on my fingers. For me being able to apply pressure with my index finger to the flipper -- fingerguard on the bottom of the blade and my thumb on top, I feel better control of the blade and confidence that I won't accidentally get my fingers cut. I agree with you That the Trance is suited for the thumbstud method of opening. And if I want to open up fast just flip the stud with my thumb and snap! :D

Direkt I've got one already reserved. If it's anything like the other Boker plus folders I already own I think I like it a lot:thumbup:

Again, all I can say is MAHALO MUCH you guys...:o

Thanks for your kind words regarding my designs, and I pray I can keep keeping you guys happy with sharp, pointy designs! Er, unless for some reason I design a sheepsfoot that is...:D

Props to Boker though...amazing quality for the price point. It's a formula we cannot stray from for sure!!!;)

God bless you guys and enjoy that DPT cu2!!!
